How do I bring my phone number to Optimum Mobile?

If you want to bring your number to Optimum Mobile, simply tell us while you are checking out. After you have purchased, there are two simple ways to transfer (or port) your phone number, pre-activation (which is recommended) or at activation.

Important - Your account with your current carrier must be active in order to bring your number over, so do not cancel it.

You will need your current carrier Account Number, Account PIN (or Number Transfer PIN), and the last four digits of the social security number associated with the account to successfully transfer your phone number.



You can transfer your current phone number to Optimum Mobile by selecting Keep my number when placing your order online. Do not worry, your number will not transfer until you activate your SIM! 

After your order ships, you will receive an email about your transfer. Click the link in the email and follow the steps below: 

1. Sign in to MyMobile
2. Tap Transfer a number
3. Select your number 
4. Tap Start transfer (Your phone number will not be transferred until you activate!)

Once you have received your order, follow the steps below to complete your transfer:

1. Sign in to MyMobile
2. Tap Activate your SIM
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the transfer

Tip: When your SIM is delivered, it may take up to one hour for the status in MyMobile to change from “Shipped” to “Delivered.” Once the status is updated, you will be able to activate your SIM.


At Activation

If you did not start your transfer before activation, it’s still easy. Once you receive your SIM, follow the steps below:

1. Sign in to MyMobile
2. Tap Activate service
3. Tap the phone number you want to transfer
4. Tap Continue 
5. Enter the required fields for your number transfer
6. Accept the terms and then tap Start transfer 
7. Allow up to 15 minutes for activation and your number transfer to complete
8. Restart your device - you are all set!



If incorrect information was entered during your transfer request, you will receive an email or text message. You will need to sign in to resubmit your request.

If you did not receive a notification from us and the status of your transfer does not update after 24 hours from “Request submitted,” contact your carrier for assistance.
