How do I change my ringtone and message sounds on my iPhone?

On your iPhone, you can change your ringtone and message sounds.

 

Change Ringtone

To change the ringtone:

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Tap Ringtone.
  4. Select a new Ringtone option and then tap Back. The ringtone has been changed.

 

Add a song to Ringtone Options

To add a song as ringtone:

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Tap Text Tone.
  4. Tap Tone Store.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Select a ringtone.
  7. Tap the price tag.
  8. Tap Set as Default Ringtone.
  9. Tap Purchase and follow the onscreen instructions.

 

Adjust Ringtone Volume Settings

To adjust the volume level

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. In “Ringer and Alerts, drag slider to adjust volume

 

To enable Vibrate

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Turn on Vibrate on Ring

 

To enable Vibrate (when in silent mode)

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Turn on Vibrate on Silent

 

Silent and Vibrate Mode for Messages

Message notifications can be set to silent or vibrate mode on your Apple iPhone. This is useful to not disturb other people around you, for example in public transport, during a concert or a (business) meeting.

 

To turn on “Silent Mode” for message notifications:

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Tap Text Tone.
  4. Tap None
    • Silent Mode has been turned on.

 

To turn on “Vibration Mode” for message notifications:

  1. Go to the Home screen and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics.
  3. Tap Text Tone.
  4. Tap Vibration
