Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) are free text alerts about emergencies near you. Government agencies send them to phones in the area where the danger is.
Types of alerts
- National Alerts come from the President or the FEMA Administrator. You can't turn these off.
- Imminent Threat alerts warn about extreme or severe danger, like severe weather or a chemical spill.
- AMBER Alerts help find missing children.

If something goes wrong
- Didn't get an alert? Alerts go to phones in an area, not to phone numbers. Your phone must be on our network or a roaming partner's network that sends WEA. Not every area sends WEA messages.
