To move your AT&T number, get a Number Transfer PIN from AT&T. You can get it from your AT&T phone, the AT&T app, or your online AT&T account. One PIN covers all the numbers on your account. It expires 4 days after you request it (14 days for business accounts).
Before you start
- Turn off any number lock on your old account. Carriers call it different things, like Number Lock, Port Out Blocker, SIM Protect, or Port Lock. A lock that is still on is a common reason a transfer fails.
- Have your AT&T account number ready. You can find it:
- • On your AT&T bill, under the page number or issue date.
- • Online: sign in to your AT&T account overview and look under Welcome back. Or go to your account profile and select Account info.
- • By calling 611 from your AT&T wireless phone.
From your AT&T phone
1. Dial *PORT (*7678).
2. Follow the prompts. You'll need your account passcode.
3. Your PIN arrives by text.
In the AT&T app
1. Sign in to the AT&T app.
2. Tap your profile icon, then Settings.
3. Select Manage or remove account.
4. Tap Settings and scroll to Transfer phone number.
5. Select Request new PIN. Your PIN shows on the screen.
In your online AT&T account
1. Go to your AT&T account profile. Sign in if asked.
2. Select Settings.
3. Scroll to Transfer phone number and select Request new PIN. Your PIN shows on the screen.
If something goes wrong
- Can't get a PIN? Only users with primary online access can request one online or in the app. Business accounts can't use the phone or app. Otherwise, contact AT&T.
- Have your PIN? Go to Transfer your number to Optimum Mobile.
